Our capacitive deionization process is conceptually similar to that of a super-capacitor and cleans water through the application of a programmable electrostatic potential which removes charged species and organic pollutants. A typical capacitive deionization cleaning process comprises of a deionization cycle followed by an electrode recuperation protocol.

How it works

Capacitive Deionization is an electrostatic method of water purification, which does not use any chemicals. Its selective removal of charged species through the application of low voltage DC, gives it a low energy footprint. In addition, the removal efficiency is a function contaminant size, charge and time of operation, giving CDI the novel ability to tailor the output water quality based on application needs.

SWT’s Fors is built using a novel rendition of Capacitive Deionization (CDI) technology at the heart of the device. Hence the core water treatment unit in Fors, called Core-M (based on CDI) works by electrostatic removal of charged contaminants in water. In addition, Fors improves the tangible features of water like, colour and smell.
SWT’s novel CDI (FT-CDI) is a patented form of CDI technology, where the design of the CDI elements enables SWT’s FT-CDI to remove not just ions, but also microbial matter and charged organics from water. Coupled with the smart software and electronic hardware controlling the CDI elements, SWT’s FT-CDI can tailor your water quality dynamically, without the use of any chemicals or other additives. FT-CDI elements also have very low pressure drop, making the who system safe and simple to build and operate.
